THE ARTISTS | SHOKUNIN AND APPRENTICE

We are Shokunin and Apprentice. Every moment assigns its own teacher and its own learner. As an artist collective we comfortably shape shift between mentor and mentee. Our artistic partnership is a symbiotic dance of diverse and eclectic styles, worldviews and purpose.  

We see ourselves as Colourists and find colour a sophisticated means to create a visual language to convey our experiences. 

Our creative output spans performance art, film, literature and music and is our contribution to the Bodies of Knowledge that shape us, which include Art, Design, Science, Metaphysics, Anthropology, Mathematics, Linguistics and Psychology. 

Our creative expression in form is inspired by Graphic Design, Painting, Sculpting and Architecture. To speak in Term of Art language, we specifically favour Abstract Expressionism, in particular Colour Field Painting, coupled with Pop Art to communicate our aesthetic. This definition is but an approximation to allow navigation of our work from a particular angle. 

In essence, what characterises our process is spontaneity, experimentation, improvisation and flow. In other words, we wing it with absolute resolve and with absolute confidence.
